Institutional cooperation

An open, inter-institutional consortium

The Lab connects universities, faculties, research institutes, clinics, firms and public bodies through formal cooperation instruments.

Who we work with

The Lab is empowered to establish academic and practical relationships with domestic and international universities, academic faculties, specialised research institutes, university legal clinics, law firms, technology companies, commercial enterprises, public bodies and professional associations.

Forms of cooperation

Institutional partnerships may be enacted through memoranda of understanding, bilateral and multilateral cooperation agreements, project-specific charters, clinical hosting arrangements, or other legally recognised collaborative frameworks.

What a partnership can involve

  • Joint inter-university student project teams and hackathons
  • Cross-institutional research initiatives and joint grant applications
  • Shared curriculum development, guest masterclasses and workshops
  • Academic conferences, symposia and a working paper series
  • Exchange of educational methodologies, case studies and open-source teaching libraries

Bringing a problem to the Lab

Organisations may submit practical problem statements for academic capstone projects. Proposals are evaluated on four criteria: educational value, research relevance, technical feasibility, and compliance with ethical and data protection standards. A project must serve an educational objective – the Lab is not a substitute for commercial software procurement.

Where proprietary material is involved, data processing and non-disclosure agreements are executed before work begins. Students do not access raw personal data or trade secrets without the appropriate protocols, and synthetic or anonymised datasets are used by default.

External experts

The Lab also integrates individual practitioners into its teaching and research as project mentors reviewing student workflow designs and software architecture, guest lecturers delivering masterclasses, advisory reviewers participating in end-of-semester evaluations and prototype demonstrations, and research collaborators co-authoring studies.

How to start a conversation

Write to info@legaltech.edu.ge with a short description of your institution, the kind of cooperation you have in mind, and – if you are proposing a project – the problem you would like students to work on.
